Course Instructor: Captain Andrew Seligman
Captain Andrew Seligman actively partakes in racing and cruising sail boats, teaching sailing for Tracey School, and teaching sailing to new sailors at his sailing club. Andrew also instructs students to get their United States Coast Guard licenses. Andrew has several licenses and certifications including various ASA Standard student certifications, and ASA Instructor certifications. Andrew has a USCG Masters license with commercial towing and sailing endorsements. Boating since he was eight years old and sailing for 13 years; "I was introduced to the sea before I could walk," Andrew says, whose grandparents and uncles were avid sailors. An environmental scientist working for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Andrew works to help clean up the Chesapeake Bay.

ASA-101 Basic Keelboat Sailing 3 Days- $495 (4 Students per class) Please note that there is a mandatory additional one time Administrative/Set-up fee payable to the ASA of $39 which includes a one year membership in the American Sailing Association. Prerequisites: None ASA-101 Basic Keelboat Sailing 2 Day on Water / 2 Eve at Home Web Class- $495 (4 Students per class) These special courses will be taught over a weekend ON THE WATER. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings of the week prior to your weekend course we will hold a 2 hour web based virtual classroom LIVE with your course instructor. The weekend class will be extended by an hour each day. There is no reduction in total hours of instruction, but rather by utilizing web technology we save you an extra day of travel, meals, vacation days, etc. We feel this convenience is good business for us, you and the planet by reducing travel related pollution. A simple home PC and web connection is all that is required. We developed the course materials and have tested this interactive Web-Ex platform on home and laptop utilizing wireless card (approx. DSL speed) and it has performed flawlessly with full 2 way video, audio, Power Point and Whiteboard. The audio may be interfaced via computer linked headset or telephone and your video feed back to the class is optional (requires a computer video camera). Prerequisites: None

Overview: This is the beginning of your sailing adventures. In this course you will learn about the sailboat, the language of sailing, the Navigation Rules, how to sail safely, how to dock, anchor and moor the boat and the responsibilities of the Captain and crew. Most importantly, you will learn how to sail. From the foundation of this course you can build a lifetime of sailing knowledge and pleasure. These basics will be used every day, every time you go sailing for the rest of your life. At the Tracey School, no course is more important to us than this one. How well you learn the basics is the keystone to your confidence and comfort. Our motto is simple: "Sailing is magical". This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to safely enjoy the magic of sailing. Successful completion earns a National Safe Boating Certificate recognized by the NASBLA and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Detailed course description. The basis and most important of all courses we teach. A full three days of sailing instruction that will make you a sailor. Written tests are offered at your convenience after passing the practical, on the water portion of this course.
